We were watching an episode of Good Eats featuring French Toast a couple of weeks ago and ever since then, Greg's been requesting it. It's been so crazy with the move and I hadn't had much time to cook at all so I thought this would be the perfect meal to break into our new kitchen! My version was pretty similar to Alton Brown's except that I didn't add the honey and I used good old Buttermilk bread that we had in the pantry. Oh and of course, my special touch of sprinkled powdered sugar at the end. YUM!
French toast is actually really easy and totally worth the effort! I got the plate from Marshall's a while back for only $3! Gotta love those discount stores!
As a kid, I would eat my French toast with a veritable blizzard of powdered sugar. My oldest brother used to hack as the clouds of powder floated over my plate. ;)

Congrats on breaking in your new kitchen with such a worthy meal! I love french toast, although I've never made it. Love the plate too!

Powdered sugar and syrup is totally normal. Greg puts KETCHUP in addition, which is pretty gross!
It sounds delicious!! I love my new well decorated kitchen... I got new cabinets from Home Depot...
